GO GREEN with MUSIC and NATURE @ BHMC!

CELL PHONES

Ok, here we go with our least favorite topic of camp - the cell phone.  40 years ago, when we were kids and attending camp, there obviously were no cell phones - and we all survived and had a great time!  Yes, we understand that they are a part of life now BUT their use can be detrimental to a positive camp experience.

We choose to keep our camp in a traditional camp setting where there is little technology, thereby allowing us to focus on the beauty of nature and music.  We do not prohibit cell phone use, but we do have rules and suggestions that provide boundaries that we think make for a great camp experience.

Cell phones are absolutely off limits during all rehearsals, meals and camp events.  Violators will be asked to relinquish their phone.

First-time campers who frequently call friends and family during their free time have a difficult time adjusting to camp life.  They miss opportunities to interact with other campers, engage in fun activities and begin the BHMC tradition of making life-long friendships.  We know this may not make sense but frequent calls home usually guarantee homesickness.

Many 'veteran' campers hardly ever use their phone. They are not worried that they are missing something back home because they have waited all year to return to a favorite place, where they reunite with 'camp' friends and become active in all the extras that camp has to offer.

So, parents please remember ...................NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS!

CAMP FOOD

Campers will be eating camp food, prepared for 175 people.  It will not be your mother's cooking or like going out to dinner.  It will be nutritious, tasty and varied.  The meals are 'common' - baked ziti, chicken tenders, macaroni & cheese, daily salad bar, vegetables, wraps, cereal, eggs, etc.

We offer vegetarian alternatives at every meal - please indicate any special diets in advance of arriving at camp.

While the general rule for bringing food to camp is NO, to be honest, some campers choose to bring their own snack foods.  As long as NON-PERISHABLE food is kept in an airtight container, it will be allowed.  Insects and small animals will most definitely become your new friends if food is left unsealed.
