Welcome to Bristol Hills Music Camp! We are very excited to share our camp with you. You will join thousands of former campers who have enjoyed our beautiful sunsets, made life-long friendships and participated in a musically challenging and enriching experience. We look foward to creating beautiful music and memories together.
The Bristol Hills Music Camp mission is to offer an outdoor camp experience that will ensure musical growth, appreciation and development through a quality-intensive prorgram while fostering life-long friendships and enjoying the beauty of nature.
The following is a Handbook created for Campers and Parents covering all aspects of camp, including when to arrive, what to bring, our daily schedule and much, much more. Whether you are a first-time camper or a veteran please take time to read through all sections.
BHMC HISTORY
BHMC has been in existence for 48 years. It began as a marching band camp and has evolved through the years into our current program, which includes musical enrichment for band, orchestra and vocal participants. We are the only residential music camp in New York State that still exists in a traditional camp setting where we live in cabins, eat in a dining hall, practice in the woods, and have campfires! Since camp is held toward the end of summer, campers get a head start in music as they return to school.
Our camp is divided into Boys Village and Girls Village, which are separated by the Main Lodge. Campers are only permitted in their respective villages. They live in cabins that house between 5 and 18 campers and counselors. Cabins will be arranged by age. The music groups are also divided by age. 6th-8th graders are Junior High and 9th -12th graders are Senior High. Occasionally a musician will be moved to a different group to help with instrumentation or at the recommendation of the group directors.
